So because of the magic of international air travel, combined with the vagaries of the international date line in the middle of the Pacific ocean, strange things happen when traveling between the US and Australia.
For instance, when we leave Los Angeles on Thursday night it will be the 3rd of July. We then fly the 13 or so hours non-stop to the east coast of Australia and land and the date will actually be the 5th of July.
Obviously I have experienced this phenomenon a couple of times now, but this will be Callum's first experience at time traveling. I'll do my best to show him the ropes so he will probably be just fine.
But of more importance is the fact that the day we are skipping this time around is the 4th of July, which is America's Australia Day if you will. So Callum will have to wait until next year to experience his first 4th of July. Which is probably not a bad thing since I am assuming 7th month olds and amateur fireworks are probably a combination best left to the ferals and rednecks.
